    What does Biblical Vibrancy look like? Ephesians 4: 11-16; 5:1; Philippians 2:5-18

    Our Never Ending Pursuit for Spiritual Vibrancy:

      • Biblical Vibrancy exists in the individual and within the corporate body in which The Spirit of God is allowed to work without any hindrances and the Word & Will of God is lived without compromise.

    What brings about & hinders Spiritual Vibrancy?

    • The Manner of Removing Roadblocks [Sin]: Repentance!

    Christ is the object of the Church's exaltation: Colossians 1:18!

     

    • Why should we exalt Christ & not Someone/Something Else?
      • Christ is the Head of All Things: Ephesians 1:22
      • Christ is Head of the Church: Ephesians 1:22; 5:23
      • The Church is His Body and therefore He possesses us:  Ephesians 1:23; Acts 20:28
    • What should our response be to Christ's preeminence?
      • The Church's supreme duty is submission to Christ as Head: Ephesians 4: 11-16; 5:24
    • How do we become a Church which exalts Christ?
      • Answer: we become individuals which exalt Christ in our lives everyday!

    How does edification of the Body occur?

    • Through Equipped Saints doing the work of the Ministry: Ephesians 4:11-12; Matt. 28:18-20
    • Person-To-Person and then People-To-People: 1 Cor. 14:3ff; Eph. 4:11-16; Rom. 15:2
    • Our lives are to be lived for the edification of others: 2 Cor. 13:10; Rom. 15:1-6; 1 Cor. 14: 12, 14, 26

    The Nature of Edification:

    • Truth & Love: Ephesians 4:15 [True Love Edifies - 1 Cor. 8:1; 2 Cor. 12:19; Rom. 15:2]
    • Edification takes pulling your own weight – Ephesians 4:16
    • Edification takes work and discipline – Ephesians 4:16

    • To announce a victory or to bring good tidings/ news

    Summary: to deliver good and victorious news to those who are in desperate need of aid, encouragement, and help.

    What is to be proclaimed as the "good news"? Rom. 1:1ff, 1 Cor. 15:1ff, Acts 26:22-23, and 1 Pt. 1:10-25

    • Evangelizing should not be bound only to proclamation but also preaching, teaching, and witnessing.
    • Jesus is not just bringing a new teaching but is bringing himself as the content of the message, so that for the disciples [of Christ] euangelion implies disclosure of the messianic secret [TDNT 270].

    The Result of Evangelizing:

    • Healing [Mat. 4:23
    • Joy [Acts 8:8]
    • Salvation [1 Cor. 15:1-2]
    • Regeneration [1 Pt. 1:23ff]

    Who possesses the responsibility to Evangelize?  Those who have been recipients of the good news themselves!

    Where should evangelizing occur?

    To Continue [belief/ trust should grow stronger & stronger]: A person or a church must decide from where they will receive guidance, Truth, and understanding for decision-making, order, correction, etc. – 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4!

    To believe the Word of God means to receive the total counsel of God as True, place our complete trust in what He says is right and good, and then order our lives accordingly!

    Why should Mankind Glorify God? Because God Glories in Himself!

    • Arrogant for God? No!  Why? Ultimate Being! 1 Sam. 12:22;  Is. 48:11; Phil. 1:10-11; Jn. 15:8ff; Rev. 11:13; Matt. 5:16.
    • Arrogant for me to glory in my? Yes! Why? Placing myself as Supreme when I am Not!

    What does it mean to glorify God [taken from Jonathan Edwards, The End for Which God Created the World, pgs. 229-239]?

      • Glory denotes internal excellence or greatness –2 Sam. 19:43; Dan. 5:27
      • Glory is the outshining of the internal greatness or excellence --1 Cor. 15:41; Is. 6:1-3, 60:1-2; Lk. 2:9; Heb. 1:3; Rev. 18:1]
        • Glory refers to God's goodness and grace: Eph. 3:16; Ex. 33:18-19
      • God's Glory is the honor accorded him by the creature: Ezekiel 39:21-13: to see and know by the creature the inter goodness and greatness of God.
      • God's glory is the praise He receives from His creature: Ps. 50:23; Is. 48:9-11; Phil. 1:11
  • How does mortal man suppose to glorify God?
    • Reflecting His Character/Goodness is all we can do…we cannot add anything to God for He is complete in and of Himself.
      • Bring Him Glory? Only if we reflect! Ephesians 1:12; 5:1
    • How? Christ-likeness – Philippians 2:5-11!
    • To Glorify God is our created purpose and His ultimate reason for creating.  Therefore, the entire function of the Church is to reflect the character of God
